The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, on Friday proclaimed Bagong Henerasyon as one of the winning party-list groups in the May 12 midterm polls.
The Comelec said the group garnered 319,803 votes in the elections, which entitles it to one seat at the House of Representatives.
According to the Certificate of Proclamation (COP), First Nominee Roberto Gerard Nazal Jr. will represent Bagong Henerasyon in the 20th Congress for three years, or until June 30, 2028.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia said the COP was formally presented to Bagong Henerasyon president Rochelle Custodio and secretary general Bernadette Banto on Friday at the session hall of the Comelec head office in Intramuros, Manila.
Bagong Henerasyon was proclaimed a day after the Comelec en banc issued a Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment on the disqualification case against the group and its nominees.
Last week, the Comelec en banc denied a motion for reconsideration filed by lawyer Russel Stanley Geronimo, who sought the group’s disqualification from the party-list race.
Geronimo filed the motion after the Comelec First Division junked his petition due to his failure to comply with the mandatory requirements.
The Comelec suspended Bagong Henerasyon’s proclamation due to the pending petition.
