SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Friday officially kicked off his re-election campaign as representative of Leyte’s 1st District with a call for unity among allies and fellow candidates of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and a prayer for a clean and victorious campaign season.
“To all our fellow candidates in the Lakas-CMD, partymates, allies and partners in service, the time has come to show the people again the kind of loyal leadership, tried and with a heart.
Service marches on. May God bless our campaign,” he said.
Romualdez is president of Lakas-CMD, the country’s dominant majority party in the midterm elections in May.
He ran for re-election unopposed, assured his constituents that he would continue to serve Leyte with the same dedication that has defined his years in public service, but with even greater effort and improved programs in the years ahead.
At the same time, he rallied his fellow Lakas-CMD candidates across the country to bring their message of service and performance to every Filipino community, saying their shared mission goes beyond political victory.
“Our campaign is proven not with words but with action. Our projects were felt in every barangay, every community, every family,” he added.
“Ito ang bunga ng paninindigan at tapat na pamumuno – ‘yung ginagawa ang tama dahil ito ang kailangan ng mga tao, This is the fruit of our commitment for true ledership, doing the right thing because it is what the people need” Romualdez said.
He also voiced full confidence in the victory of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial ticket, and vowed to deliver a solid win for the slate not only in Leyte but throughout Region 8.
“It is guaranteed; the Alyansa sa Bagong Pilipinas ticket will win in the entire Eastern Visayas.
We have the support of the entire citizenry. Region 8 has full trust in the platforms for change at push for Bagong Pilipinas,” the Speaker said.
“Lakas-CMD has an extensive line-up willing to serve. We have only one goal: sustain what we have started for the people,” he said.
“That is the proof of trust the people have on Lakas-CMD. But it does not mean we have to be complacent. We have to do better to show that we deserve their confidence,” Romualdez noted.
He urged all Lakas-CMD bets to focus on clean, positive campaigning and to center their messages on performance and public service, not personality.
“Success is not measured only by the number of votes. It is measured by the quality of services ater the elections. Win or lose, service must go on, “he stressed.
He offered a prayer for strength, unity and fairness throughout the campaign period, and reminded his allies that their greatest strength is their shared dedication to the people.
“May God bless our campaign. Magkaisa tayo, magtulungan, at manatiling tapat sa ating layunin – ang pagsilbihan ang ating mga kababayan sa abot ng ating makakaya. Sa Lakas-CMD, tuloy-tuloy ang serbisyong may puso,(Let us unit, help one another, and be always true to our objective—to serve the people at utmost capability. In Lakas-CMD, service has a heart,)” he said.
