The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas backed by President Ferdinand Marcos respects Sen. Imee Marcos’ decision to withdraw from the administration senatorial slate.

“We respect Senator Imee’s decision. We wish her luck in the campaign,” said Navotas City Rep. Tobias Tiangco, Alyansa’s campaign manager.

Tiangco’s statement came as Marcos said she may no longer be part of the Alyansa as she said earlier she was uncertain about her continued inclusion in the administration’s senatorial slate.

Marcos was exclued from President Marcos’ endorsement speech at a Laguna campaign rally Saturday, March 23, where he advocated for only 11 candidates instead of the full 12.

While both Senator Marcos and Las Piñas Lone District Rep. Camille Villar were absent from Saturday’s event, Villar was explicitly endorsed by the president.

This omission marked the second consecutive rally where Senator Marcos was left out of her brother’s endorsement. The senator revealed she has yet to discuss the matter with the president.

Sen. Marcos attended the Alyansa’s proclamation rallies in Laoag, Iloilo, Pasay, Bacolod and
Pili, Albay and did not join the rest of the rallies.

“I cannot stand on the same campaign platform as the rest of the Alyansa. As I have stated from the outset of the election period, I will continue to maintain my independence,” Sen. Marcos has said.
