More than 100,000 Warays gathered in Tacloban City for a grand rally in support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas, endorsing the administration’s senatorial slate under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, a proud son of Leyte and close ally of the President, led the event, praising the Waray community’s overwhelming support for Marcos’ candidates.
He emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections in ensuring the continuity of the administration’s economic and social reforms.
Romualdez said, “The unity shown by our countrymen here in Eastern Visayas proves our full support for President Marcos. This is not just a rally—it’s a commitment to continue reforms that will strengthen our economy and provide a better future for every Filipino.”
The gathering highlighted the strong backing of the Waray-speaking provinces for the Marcos-Romualdez leadership, cementing Eastern Visayas’ position as a key stronghold for the administration. Local and national leaders attended, reinforcing the region’s importance in national politics.
