The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday announced that more than 10 million ballots have been printed to date, following the resumption of ballot printing on January 27.
Printing had previously experienced two delays due to temporary restraining orders (TROs) issued by the Supreme Court.
Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said nearly 14 percent or 10,051,712 ballots have been printed so far.
Garcia expressed assurance the outstanding 62,055,708 units to be printed will be finalized within the established timeline, utilizing four printing machines from the National Printing Office alongside two machines acquired from the South Korean company Miru Systems Inc.
“We’re aiming to print 1.5 million ballots daily and to finish the printing by April 14,” Garcia said.
The 10 million ballots consist of the election materials allocated for five regions including the Bicol Region, Caraga Region, and Batanes province.
