The Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group on Monday announced the arrest of a 22-year-old passenger at Mactan-Cebu International Airport who is wanted for rape in Zamboanga del Sur.
The arrest took place Sunday at Gate 11 in the departure area of Terminal 1 as the suspect prepared to board a domestic flight to Manila.
Authorities said the passenger used an alias when purchasing his airline ticket in an attempt to evade arrest.
The operation was carried out by the Aviation Security Group with Police Station 5 of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office and the PNP Regional Intelligence Unit 7.
Police served a warrant issued by a Family Court in Molave, Zamboanga del Sur for rape under the Revised Penal Code, with no bail recommended. The suspect was later turned over to local police for further processing.
