P7m ecstasy shipment seized at Central Luzon facility

Government agents intercepted on Saturday two parcels containing ecstasy tablets worth more than P7 million at a cargo facility in Central Luzon.

The operation began during routine X-ray screening by Customs personnel, who noticed inconsistencies in the declared contents of the parcels, prompting coordination with the Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group and the Clark Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group.

A narcotics detection dog from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency confirmed the presence of illegal drugs, which were found hidden inside packages falsely labeled as automotive accessories.

The first parcel contained 2,693 purple tablets valued at P4,591,275, while the second held 1,431 tablets of various colors worth P2,448,850, bringing the total estimated value to P7,040,125.

Authorities traced the shipment to Austria and bound for a consignee in Davao City. The seized items were documented, resealed, and secured for laboratory analysis as investigators build a case against those behind the shipment.

PNP Aviation Security Group chief Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome Jr. said the interception highlights strong interagency coordination and the government’s commitment to combating transnational drug trafficking through air cargo gateways.
