The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) seized frozen food worth P100 million in Navotas City for lacking the required permits, authorities said.
In a statement released Friday, the PNP said the confiscated items included assorted meat, fish, and other agri-fishery products packed in 1,071 boxes.
Authorities said the products may have been illegally smuggled and potentially unsafe for consumption.
The operation was carried out through a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10611, or the Food Safety Act of 2013, targeting cold storage warehouses in the city.
PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Nartatez Jr. said the seizure underscores the police force’s commitment to protecting public health, especially as the Christmas season approaches.
