The Sandiganbayan has cleared former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile of the last graft charge against him.
In a decision promulgated on Friday, the anti-graft court’s Special Third Division acquitted Enrile of the charge involving the P172.8 million that he allegedly mishandled during his term as a legislator.
In its decision, the Sandiganbayan said “the prosecution failed to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The court also cleared Enrile’s former chief of staff, Jessica Lucila Reyes, and businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles of 15 graft counts.
Enrile, former senator Ramon ‘Bong; Revilla Jr. and Senator Jinggoy Estrada were charged with alleged irregularities in the handling of their priority development assistance fund (PDAF) and cleared by Sandiganbayan.
They were charged during the administration of the late former President Benigno Aquino III.
Reyes, and Napoles were indicted together with Enrile in the case that was decided on Friday.
