Dy lauds House passing 17 LEDAC priority bills before Lenten break

Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ Dy III on Wednesday cited the strong legislative output of the House of Representatives, reporting that 17 of the 52 priority measures identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) have been passed despite mounting global and economic challenges.

In his closing speech before Congress adjourned for its Lenten break, Dy credited the collective effort of House members, led by the chamber’s leadership and Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” A. Marcos, for sustaining legislative momentum.

Congress will go on Lenten break from March 21 to May 4.

“All in all, through the hard work of the members of this chamber—the House leadership, lalong-lalo na kay (especially to) Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, the officials, and the employees—we have passed 17 out of the 52 LEDAC priority measures,” Dy said.

The Isabela lawmaker said these gains come amid growing global uncertainty, particularly the impact of tensions in the Middle East on fuel prices, goods, and overall economic stability.

“As we move forward, we do so in a time of global uncertainty,” Dy said, noting that developments abroad continue to directly affect Filipino households.

He said the House has acted decisively to cushion these effects, including the passage of House Bill 8418, which allows President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to suspend or reduce fuel excise taxes when necessary to stabilize prices.

The chamber also advanced key education reforms, including amendments to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act and the Presidential Merit Scholarship Program, aimed at strengthening student support and investing in the future workforce.

Dy also cited the passage of the Digital Payments Act, which seeks to accelerate government digitalization, reduce red tape, and improve transparency in public transactions.

He added that the House moved forward with the long-awaited Anti-Political Dynasty bill following nationwide consultations, with plenary deliberations recently completed.

Dy thanked lawmakers, officials, and employees for their work.

Ito po ay patunay na ang Kapulungan ay masigasig at masipag na nagtatrabaho. Sa inyong lahat—mga kasama, mga opisyal, at mga kawani ng ating Kongreso: maraming, maraming salamat po,” he said.

(This is proof that the House is diligent and hardworking. To all of you—my colleagues, our officials, and the staff of our Congress: thank you very, very much.)

Ang mga tagumpay pong ito ay tagumpay nating lahat at tagumpay ng sambayanang Pilipino (These achievements are achievements of us all, and success of the Filipino people.)”
