Rep. Suntay attends House ethics meeting

Quezon City 4th District Rep. Jesus Suntay on Wednesday attends the March 18 meeting of the House committee on ethics over his controversial remarks about actress Anne Curtis.

Suntay is expected to explain his side before the committee chaired by 4Ps Party-list Rep. JC Abalos.

Earlier, Suntay apologized to Curtis and those he offended, saying the analogy should not have been made and acknowledging the backlash.

The controversy stems from the March 3 hearing of the House Committee on Justice on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.

During the hearing, Suntay, while defending the Vice President from allegations that she threatened to have President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other officials assassinated, uses an analogy involving Curtis to argue that imagination alone should not be treated as a real act in determining legal liability.

Recounting an encounter at a shopping mall, he says his thoughts were purely imagined and should not be the basis of legal liability.
