The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Thursday delivered to the Office of the Ombudsman truckloads of documents collated during its fact-finding mission on the massive flood control projects irregularities.
ICI executive director Brian Hosaka supervised the transmittal of the documents, but did not say what the papers were all about.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier said the ICI had practically accomplished its mission and that much of the work in investigating flood control anomalies “has already been done.”
“Well, right now, what the ICI is doing is that they are collating all of their findings. They are also writing their final report. I think it’s done already,” Marcos said in a press briefing in New York as he wrapped up his working visit there on Tuesday, March 10.
Malacañang said however, that the President was still studying the 125-day accomplishment report submitted by the ICI on Feb. 6.
The fact-finding body is currently in the process of transmitting their report to either the Department of Justice or the Ombudsman, according to the Chief Executive.
“Now, what will happen afterwards is, let us see what else that they can do, but for now their brief has already been fulfilled,” he noted.
Retired Justice Andres Reyes is the only remaining member of the body following the resignation of its commissioners.
According to the commission, despite its limited manpower and resources, it was able to deliver “substantial and measurable results.”
Among its accomplishments were nine referrals to the Office of the Ombudsman that covered 65 individuals.
The body also said it has coordinated with the Department of Justice for the issuance of Immigration lookout bulletins against 55 individuals implicated in the flood control scandal.
