Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro is strengthening the province’s healthcare system to ensure accessible and compassionate services, especially in remote communities.

The provincial government is upgrading district hospitals and rural health units by improving equipment, expanding services, and supporting frontline health workers. The goal is to reduce the need for patients to travel far for treatment.
Efforts also focus on expanding access to affordable medicines, maternal and child care, and mental health services, areas that saw rising demand after the COVID-19 pandemic. Programs now emphasize prevention and early detection. Minerva Newman
Residents have begun to feel the impact. A mother from northern Cebu said she was able to receive regular prenatal checkups at her local health unit, avoiding costly trips to the city.
Baricuatro said healthcare reform goes beyond infrastructure, aiming to restore trust and dignity in public service.
She vowed sustained investments to build a more inclusive and resilient health system for the province.
