LTO reassigns regional directors amid probe

Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Markus Lacanilao on Thursday ordered the reassignment of two regional directors to the central office amid corruption allegations and an ongoing probe.

Pursuant to Department of Transportation Office Order No. 2026-011, Lacanilao issued a memorandum reassigning the directors of LTO Regions 7 (Central Visayas) and 4B (Mimaropa) to the LTO headquarters in Quezon City.

The DoTr ordered the reassignment due to possible corruption committed by the two officials, citing the need to prevent interference with the investigation or the possible tampering of evidence

“This reassignment is a clear signal of our resolve to pursue justice without compromise. We will not allow any individual to hinder efforts to cleanse our ranks and restore public trust in the LTO’s services,” Lacanilao said.

The DoTr said it will conduct the probe, with findings to be released to the public upon completion, while the LTO declined to disclose the identities of the directors or the nature of the allegations.
