Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. reiterated the military’s role as a stabilizing and unifying force during the traditional New Year’s Call on Thursday night.
“Security is strongest when shared, and peace endures when institutions work together with trust and purpose. The AFP will remain a stabilizing and unifying force, firm in its mandate and respectful of the rule of law,” he said at the Tejeros Hall of the AFP Commissioned Officers Club at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
The New Year’s Call is a gathering by the country’s top military leadership and commanders of AFP units nationwide, most of whom are accompanied by their spouses. They were received by Brawner and his wife, Melody.
The AFP chief also emphasized clarity of direction, professionalism and unity of purpose across the organization.
“As we move into 2026, we do so with clarity of direction. We will continue to build a more capable, joint, and future-ready force—one that values modernization, strengthened leadership, and operational excellence alongside the welfare of our people,” he said.
Brawner underscored that territorial defense remains at the core of the AFP’s mission, guided by readiness, discipline and professionalism.
“Readiness, discipline, and professionalism will continue to guide how we operate, how we decide, and how we lead,” he stressed, adding that the AFP will continue to address internal security threats while strengthening partnerships with government, allies, friends, and the communities it serves
