Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte has revised his request for foreign travel, narrowing both the dates and destinations after the House of Representatives flagged scheduling concerns due to overlapping session days.
In a statement, lawyer Jose Marmoi F. Salonga, executive director of the Office of the Secretary General, said the House received an initial request dated December 1, 2025, seeking clearance to travel from December 15, 2025 to February 20, 2026, covering 17 foreign destinations.
“The House of Representatives confirms receipt of the request for travel clearance from Representative Duterte,” Salonga said.
He said the chamber subsequently asked the lawmaker to submit additional details and a revised request “to facilitate proper evaluation, given the overlap with official session days.”
Salonga said Duterte complied and submitted a revised request dated December 15, 2025, limiting the proposed travel to January 3 to January 30, 2026, and to two destinations—the Netherlands and Australia.
“The stated purpose includes visiting former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, currently detained in The Hague, and visiting the Representative’s daughter studying in Australia,” Salonga said.
The lawmaker also indicated that all travel expenses will be covered by personal funds.
Salonga said the revised request is now under review in accordance with House rules and administrative procedures, taking into account institutional requirements and session schedules.
House officials noted that foreign travel requests by members are routinely assessed to ensure compliance with legislative duties and administrative rules.
