CEBU CITY—The Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Association of Cebu, Inc. (HRRACI) and the National Food Showdown staged “Cebu Goes Culinary 2025,” a two-day competition featuring 740 participants from professional and student categories.
Held on September 25–26 at SM Seaside City Cebu’s Sky Hall, the event showcased 17 culinary contests.
“This is a venue for participants and establishments to showcase skills, creativity, and Cebu’s rich local ingredients,” said Carmela Malagar, event co-chair and HRRACI corporate secretary.
Events were grouped into five clusters, including Battle Royale and Klasika Moderna Kulinarya, which emphasized heritage cuisine and local ingredients elevated to global standards.
HRRACI said the competition strengthens Cebu’s identity as the Visayas’ culinary hub, highlighting both traditional dishes and modern innovations. Minerva Newman
