The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists and commuters on Wednesday to prepare for traffic adjustments along North Avenue toward Elliptical Road in Quezon City.
“A section of the North Avenue lane towards Elliptical Road will be temporarily closed from September 24, 2025, until November 30, 2025,” the MMDA said in a public advisory.
“This closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of the pedestrian tunnel for the Quezon Memorial Circle Station, part of the MRT Line 7 project, of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and SMC Mass Transit 7 Incorporated,” it added.
The MMDA has recommended that motorists utilize alternative routes. For those traveling from North Avenue, they may turn right onto Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago Avenue and then left onto Quezon Avenue to reach Elliptical Road.
The North Avenue lane, which is situated within the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, along with the other lane from Elliptical Road to Veterans Memorial Medical Center, will remain accessible and open for traffic.
Personnel from the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Task Force Disiplina, and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will collaborate and be on standby to manage traffic flow in the affected areas.
The MRT-7 line serves 14 stations from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan to MRT-3 North Avenue in Quezon City.
The stations are: North Avenue, Quezon City Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Doña Carmen, Regalado, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Tala and San Jose del Monte.
Once the project is completed, the road component will divert northern provincial buses’ operation to San Jose Del Monte, thereby decongesting Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA).
