The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) on Monday placed its Disaster Response Task Group and Medical Group on heightened alert as Super Typhoon ‘Nando’ (international name ‘Ragasa’) threatens northern Luzon and nearby provinces.
According to the Academy, the units are on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and local disaster response offices.
“These teams are ready to deploy personnel, transport assets, and medical capabilities to assist affected communities as needed,” said PMA Spokesperson Lt. Jesse Nestor Saludo.
Within its grounds, the PMA has also taken precautionary measures to safeguard facilities, cadets, and personnel. These include reinforcing critical infrastructure, activating emergency response protocols, and conducting regular safety inspections.
PMA said the alert status reflects the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ broader commitment to public safety during natural disasters.
“The Academy is not only a training institution for military leaders but also a proactive partner in national disaster preparedness and resilience,” the PMA said in a statement.
The Academy also urged the public to remain vigilant, heed official advisories, and cooperate with authorities.
