THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday carried out a massive road-clearing operation throughout Metro Manila, resulting in the apprehension of 174 vehicles, 40 of them impounded for illegal parking and traffic obstruction.
The drive, spearheaded by the MMDA Special Operations Group-Task Force for Road Clearing (SOG-TFRC), specifically targeted areas perennially plagued by chronic gridlock.
Additionally, the operation resulted in the removal of fixtures that were encroaching on the sidewalks.
The most significant seizures occurred along Muelle del Rio, Osmena Highway, Baseco Compound, and Radial 10, all in Manila, where 12 vehicles were towed and 78 others, including private cars, public utility jeeps, container vans, trucks, taxis, tricycles, and motorcycles, issued citation tickets.
