Expelled Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. expressed his intention to testify at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee inquiry regarding the substandard flood control projects.
In his letter to Senator Rodante Marcoleta, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon, Teves believes that his experience as a long-time lawmaker will provide insights that others may not be aware of.
“In light of your call for cooperation from the Filipino people, Mr. Teves Jr., through the undersigned, humbly offers his willingness and intention to testify on how graft is being committed in flood control projects, as such testimony may aid your Honorable Committee in its investigation and ultimately help ensure good legislation and governance,” the letter reads.
Further, he described the subject matter as a “difficult issue to investigate” considering the many problems that will be faced.
He also added that the cooperation from the people, the resolution of the issues will be made possible.
The former lawmaker is facing charges of multiple counts of murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder under the Revised Penal Code (RPC), among others.
In May, he was arrested in Dili, Timor Leste and was deported back to the Philippines.
