Stormy weather causes more flight cancellations

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced more flight cancellations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday due to unfavorable weather conditions.

The agency reported that two major local carriers suspended more than 40 domestic and four international flights, affecting thousands of air travelers.

Cebu Pacific (CEB) canceled at least 37 flights going to and from Cauayan, Bicol, Roxas, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Tuguegarao, Caticlan, Butuan, Ozamis, Tacloban, Laoag, San Jose, Dumaguete, and Cebu.

CEB’s sister airline suspended three flights to and from Naga and Cebu.

Likewise, Philippine Airlines (PAL) canceled seven flights to and from Davao, Panglao, Cagayan de Oro, and Bacolod, and four international flights to and from Hong Kong and Bangkok.

In a statement, CAAP said it continues to closely monitor weather developments and is in active coordination with airline operators and airport authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of the traveling public.

Additional advisories will be issued as needed, the agency assured.
