The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Saturday recorded a magnitude 5.3 offshore earthquake in the waters off Cagayan at around 9:34 a.m.
Its epicenter was located 13 kilometers northeast of Dalupiri Island in Calayan town.

While no damage is expected, aftershocks were forecast by the state seismology bureau.
Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) was felt only in Claveria, Cagayan.
