Cyclone ‘Bising’ to exit Friday but may re-enter—PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) monitored west of Calayan, Cagayan developed into tropical depression named ‘Bising,’ which is likely to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this Friday but may re-enter by weekend.

In a weather bulletin issued at 5:00 a.m. on July 4, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said ‘Bising’ will continue moving generally westward slowly in the next 12 hours.

“Afterwards, it will turn northeastward. Re-entry to the western boundary of the PAR is possible by Sunday (06 July),” it added.

PAGASA noted that the storm’s track is “highly uncertain,” adding that raising wind signal no. 2 over Batanes and Babuyan Islands is not ruled out due to a possible southward shift.

“‘Bising’ is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by Saturday afternoon or evening and may further intensify as it moves over the sea south of Taiwan,” the weather agency said.

Wind signal no. 1 is currently hoisted over the western portion of Babuyan Islands (Calayan and Dalupiri Islands), and the northwestern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Bangui, Burgos, Pasuquin, Dumalneg).
