Senator Robinhood Padilla on Monday filed his own resolution seeking the dismissal of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment case, even as the latter’s defense team said they are ready to confront the charges.
Padilla said the resolution is his personal initiative and has not been coordinated with Duterte’s allies.
It was filed late Monday afternoon under Resolution No. 1371 titled “Declaring as Terminated the Impeachment Proceedings Against Vice-President Sara Zimmerman Duterte.”
Padilla’s motion echoed the manifestation of Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino, who moved for the “functional dismissal” of the impeachment proceedings.
Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa last week admitted authoring a resolution with the same objective, but nothing has been filed yet, according to Senate President Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero.
“My draft has nothing to do with this person’s or that person’s draft. It’s mine. We each have our own thoughts, our own work, and our own staff,” Padilla said.
The actor-turned-senator said he did not consult the vice president before drafting the resolution.
