SENATOR Grace Poe on Friday has called for the establishment of guidelines to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) systems in the Philippines are ethical, inclusive, and innovative.
“There are laws now that are being proposed in the Senate. It’s still pending. It’s very important that we don’t just rush and pass a law without actual proper consultation,” she said during a speech at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce.

Poe stressed the need for certain regulations, citing the potential misuse of AI for scams and impersonation, alongside its positive applications in research and daily life.
She clarified that new technologies should also not be over-regulated to the point of stifling innovation.
