10 Chinese nabbed in Mariveles scam hub

Ten Chinese nationals, who were former employees of a POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga and continued to be allegedly involved in love and cryptocurrency scams were arrested in Mariveles, Bataan.

According to a report by the NBI-Criminal Intelligence Division (NBI-CRID), they served a search warrant on two houses rented by the Chinese where the scam hub was operating. They caught the foreigners working on their computers and cellphones while allegedly committing fraud.

“If you notice, the cellphones they were using had their cameras covered so their conversation partners couldn’t see them. Because they would pretend to be someone else,” said Noel Bocaling, Assistant Director for Intelligence Service.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were former employees of a POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga. “When they dismantled it, many of them escaped. When they escaped, they didn’t pay their debts. They created their own groups, resulting in splinter groups,” Bocaling said.

“And they’re moving away from Manila because all the authorities are here.”
