Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that she received a summon order from the Office of the Prosecutor in relation to a case filed against her by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The NBI earlier filed incitement to sedition and grave threat complaints against Duterte following her controversial statement that she hired an assassin to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if anything were to happen to her.
“Even I received a summons from the Office of the Prosecutor over the case filed against me by the National Bureau of Investigation,” Duterte said in Filipino during an ambush interview in Sogod, Leyte, on Tuesday night.
The Vice President made the confirmation after she was asked to comment on the Department of Justice’s move to file a qualified human trafficking case against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, a known ally of the Duterte camp.
Duterte said she was not surprised by the case filed against Roque, noting his outspoken stance against the current administration.
“He [Roque] is really one of the strong and courageous voices speaking out against the ills of the incumbent administration,” she said.
Meanwhile, Duterte expressed her gratitude to Senator Imee Marcos, supporting the senator’s call to investigate five government officials for their alleged involvement in the arrest and transfer of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
During a session of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senator Marcos urged the Office of the Ombudsman to look into possible violations committed by Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, PNP CIDG chief Nicolas Torre, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil, and Special Envoy for Transnational Crimes Markus Lacanilao following the arrest of the Duterte patriarch.
“I thank Sen. Imee because she started the conversation on what they [administration] had done… how they wronged President Rodrigo Duterte,” she said.
