The significance of peace, unity, and compassion took center stage as the Muslim community celebrates Eid’l Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
In his message, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Jr. underscored the values of faith, patience, and discipline instilled by Ramadan, calling them essential pillars for fostering harmony and justice in the nation.
He urged Filipinos to reflect on these principles as the country navigates challenges in security and development.
“This Eid is a time to celebrate spiritual renewal and the strength of unity in our communities as we continue to uphold peace and justice,” Teodoro said.
The Department of National Defense echoed his sentiments, reiterating its commitment to inclusivity and national solidarity during this significant occasion in the Islamic calendar, characterized by prayers, feasts, and acts of charity.
Meanwhile, Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) emphasized the spirit of Ramadan and Eid’l Fitr as a time for reflection, compassion, and solidarity.
“Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, may the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you and your families,” Galvez said in a message.
He highlighted the Muslim community’s vital role in fostering hope and urged all citizens to work toward a shared vision of lasting peace and harmony.
Galvez also reaffirmed his office’s dedication to promoting unity and reconciliation, particularly in the Bangsamoro region.
“It is the OPAPRU’s earnest hope that this Eid brings you and your loved ones closer to Allah, strengthens your faith, and fills you with peace and gratitude that will last well beyond this year’s celebration,” Galvez said.
Both leaders emphasized that the principles of Eid’l Fitr—faith, unity, and compassion—align with the nation’s aspirations for harmony and progress.
