SENATE President Francis Escudero on Friday expressed confidence that Sorsogon will remain one of the fastest-growing provinces in the Bicol Region with the election of local officials aligned with his vision.
“I am confident that by electing the candidates with us today, we will continue the progress of our beloved province and provide the services our people expect,” he during the proclamation of local candidates in Sorsogon signalling the start of the campaign season.
“Sorsoganons come first in progress. Sorsoganons come first in crafting meaningful policies for the benefit of our fellow citizens. Sorsoganons come first in offering help and care to every Sorsoganon family,” Escudero said.
Escudero, a former governor of Sorsogon, said the officials he endorsed have proven track records and will prioritize the province’s development.
He personally backed the re-election bids of Gov. Edwin Hamor, Vice Gov. Krunimar Antonio Escudero II, 1st District Rep. Marie Bernadette Escudero, and 2nd District Rep. Wowo Fortes.
“The polls have been conducted peacefully here in Sorsogon compared to other provinces in the Bicol Region. But I also hope to see this happen in other provinces, not just here,” Escudero said.
He emphasized the importance of unity among local politicians as the campaign season intensifies, and called for an end to political intrigue, urging candidates to focus on their platforms and public service goals.
“Things should be clear now, dictated not only by delicadeza but also by integrity, so that from this day forward, there will be no more jealousy, backstabbing, or intrigue,” Escudero stressed.
