Philippine Army Chief Lieutenant General Roy Galido expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for approving an increase in the daily subsistence allowance for military personnel, raising it from P150 to P350 through Executive Order (EO) no. 84.

“Mr. President, thank you very much for the increase in our subsistence allowance. Our soldiers will be assured that they have proper nourishment in their very active profession,” Galido said over the weekend as the Philippine Army celebrated its 128th founding anniversary.

The increase aims to ensure soldiers receive proper nourishment.

Galido highlighted additional support for troops, including mobile kitchen trailers for field operations, enhanced transportation systems with civilian mobilization, and integration of reserve units for emergencies.

“That is why we are improving how we sustain our troops, from field operations to daily provisions. To ensure that our soldiers receive proper nourishment wherever they are, we have deployed mobile kitchen trailers capable of serving meals quickly even in the most challenging terrains,” he added.

Galido emphasized the importance of well-trained, equipped, and supported soldiers through a revitalized training program and streamlined recruitment processes.

Leadership development and mentorship programs remain priorities, alongside technical skills training to prepare soldiers for life within and beyond the military.

“Beyond combat training, our thrust is to equip our troops with technical skills that will serve them in and beyond military life by providing a holistic approach to soldier development,” he added.
