The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has strengthened its operational capacity with the donated M/V Amazing Grace, two Barracuda rigid-hulled inflatable boats, and 100 Starlink kits, which were formally turned over during a ceremony at South Harbor, Manila, on March 18.
First Lady and PCG Auxiliary Vice Admiral Liza Araneta-Marcos, Transportation Secretary Vivencio Dizon, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman Richard Gordon, among others, attended the event, underscoring the collaborative efforts between government and private sectors to support the PCG.
The M/V Amazing Grace, donated by the PRC, is expected to enhance the PCG’s ability to deliver medical and humanitarian aid, particularly in remote coastal communities. This vessel will be a critical asset during emergencies, natural disasters, and public health crises.
Additionally, 100 Starlink kits from SpaceX will significantly boost the PCG’s communication capabilities, ensuring real-time updates and seamless connectivity for vessels deployed in isolated maritime areas.
This technological enhancement will enable the PCG to improve disaster response and maritime security across the country.

Two Barracuda boats, donated by Grab Philippines through the efforts of the First Lady, will further strengthen the PCG’s capacity for search and rescue operations, maritime law enforcement, and other emergency response initiatives.
PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan expressed gratitude for the continued support from government, non-government, and private sector partners.
“This is very special for us. We recognize the national government support in our quest for a Bagong Pilipinas, where we have to bring public service right at the doorstep of every Filipino,” he said.
He emphasized the PCG’s enduring partnership with the Red Cross, noting their shared commitment to humanitarian service and volunteerism.
Gordon echoed this sentiment, expressing pride in donating the vessel and highlighting the humanitarian principles that guide the PRC’s actions.
Dizon also lauded the contributions from the PRC, Grab Philippines, and SpaceX, acknowledging their invaluable support to the PCG.
Grab Philippines’ Head of Corporate Strategy Grace Vera Cruz underscored their commitment to safeguarding lives, emphasizing that “through collaboration and shared responsibility, we can build a safer and more resilient Philippines.”
Meanwhile, DFNN Chairman Ramon Garcia Jr. highlighted that the Starlink kits will enhance the PCG’s disaster response and security operations across the country’s vast archipelago.
