The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday announced the denial of the immediate issuance of temporary restraining order (TRO) filed by Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa for former president Rodrigo Duterte to enjoin the government from cooperating with the International Criminal Court (ICC).
After a virtual deliberation on the 94-page petition, the High Court found the petitioners failed to establish a clear and unmistakable right for the immediate issuance of a TRO.
However, the SC directed the respondents to comment on the petition with prayer for TRO and/or writ of preliminary injunction within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice.
Meanwhile, two other petitions were filed separately by Duterte’s children Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte and Veronica “Kitty” Duterte compelling the Philippine government to bring back the former president to the country.
Upon the order of the Chief Justice for a special raffle, both petitions have been raffled to a Member-in-Charge for appropriate action.
