Here are just some of the many tributes that poured in for Forés in light of her passing.

Chef Happy Ongpauco-Tiu (Happy Concept Group’s Pamana, Lé Chon, and Tsokolateria) posted: “You have always been an inspiration to me and will always be! Your legacy will never be forgotten, dear Gaita. Rest well, my idol! Cook up a feast in heaven, and know that you will be deeply missed.”

Chef Chele Gonzalez (Gallery by Chele and Asador Alfonso) fondly recalled his memories with his late colleague from Bacolod and other parts of the Philippines, to Italy and other places worldwide: “You welcomed me into your life with warmth and friendship. Thank you for everything you gave me. You were deeply loved and will be so missed, but now it’s time for you to rest in peace. I will always remember your smile, your positive energy, and the joy you spread.”

Chef Miko Calo (Taquería FRANCO, lazy oeuf, and mediumwelldone) likewise wrote she regarded Forés as a mentor and friend: “You have been and always will be an inspiration for Filipina chefs. We will continue what you’ve started. We are here, Chef…and we will keep the fire burning. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Rest in power.”

Meanwhile, celebrities who have shared posts to honor the late chef include Judy Ann Santos, Edu Manzano, Matteo Guidicelli, and Gabbi Garcia, among others.

Capiz congressional aspirant Paolo Roxas, son of Mar Roxas, also penned in Hiligaynon a tribute to his beloved aunt: “Aunt Margarita, thank you for your love for Roxas City and Capiz… For your help in showcasing to the world our pride—diwal, crabs, and other seafood.”
