The Calabarzon police command (Region IV-A) disclosed it has mustered more than 3,000 unregistered firearms, including those turned over by local politicians over the past five months.
Calabarzon police chief Col. Kenneth Lucas presented the guns to Maj. Gen. Roberto Rodriquez, acting deputy chief for operations of the Philippine National Police in a ceremony held on Monday.
The seized guns resulted from the service of search warrants, checkpoints, police patrol and responses, and Oplan Bakal.
Lucas said a total of 313 individuals were arrested during the heightened anti-firearms operations.
These accomplishments reflect our firm commitment to preventing any form of election-related violence. We assure the public that the PNP, in coordination with the Commission on Elections and other frontline government agencies, will continue its strict enforcement of the gun ban to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, he said.
