The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has intensified its operations against illegal firearms in preparation for safe and secure midterm elections.
As part of its ongoing commitment, the NCRPO has conducted various anti-criminality operations, including police checkpoints and the implementation of search warrants across Metro Manila.
From January 12 to January 31, the NCRPO seized 149 illegal firearms and arrested 149 individuals for violations of Republic Act 10591 and the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections.
“This initiative aligns with our strategic policing approach, which emphasizes being Able, Active, and Allied (AAA). This ensures police readiness to prevent crime and strengthen law enforcement efforts throughout the region,” said NCRPO Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.
Among the key contributors to the NCRPO’s crackdown on illegal firearms was the Manila Police District, which confiscated 54 firearms and arrested 54 individuals. Following closely was the Southern Police District, which secured 43 illegal firearms and made 44 arrests. The Northern Police District ranked third, with 29 firearms seized and 29 arrests.
The Quezon City Police District contributed by confiscating 16 firearms and making 15 arrests, while the Eastern Police District rounded out the efforts with seven firearms seized and seven individuals arrested.
