Household workers in Metro Manila and Northern Mindanao will have higher salaries starting next month.
The respective regional wage boards of the said areas have granted the salary increases, GMA News reported.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has approved Wage Order No. NCR-DW-05 issued by Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) National Capital Region granting a P500 monthly increase for kasambahays across the region.
“This will bring the sector’s monthly minimum wage to P7,000,” the Department of Labor and Employment, in a statement, said.
The NWPC also affirmed the wage order issued by the RTWPB Region X, approving a P1,000 increase for kasambahays to bring their monthly minimum wage to P6,000.
A P23 hike for the minimum wage in the non-agriculture sector, and P35 for the agriculture sector to be released in two tranches was likewise granted by the RTWPB.
Upon full implementation, the minimum wage rates in Northern Mindanao will increase to P446 to P461.
The DOLE also released the pay rules for employees who will report for work during regular holidays, special non-working days, and special working days in 2025.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, quoted by GMA News, said the issuance of Labor Advisory No. 16 is pursuant to Proclamation No. 727, which declares the holidays for 2025.
Under the pay guidelines, workers who will report for duty during regular holidays shall be paid as follows:
If the employee does not work, the employer shall pay 100% of the employee’s wage for that day, provided that the employee reports to work or is on leave of absence with pay on the day immediately preceding the regular holiday. Where the day immediately preceding the regular holiday is a non-working day in the establishment or the scheduled rest day of the employee, he or she shall be entitled to holiday pay if the employee reports to work or is on leave of absence with pay on the day immediately preceding the non-working day or rest day (Basic wage x 100%).
For work done during the regular holiday, the employer shall pay a total of 200% of the employee’s wage for that day for.
For work done in excess of eight hours, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30% of the hourly rate on said day (Hourly rate of the basic wage x 200% x 130% x number of hours worked).
For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee’s rest day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30% of the basic wage of 200% (Basic wage x 200% × 130%).
For work done in excess of eight hours during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee’s rest day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30% of the hourly rate on said day (Hourly rate of the basic wage x 200% x 130% x 130% x number of hours worked).
Malacanang earlier declared as regular holidays are January 1 (New Year); April 9 (Day of Valor); April 17 (Maundy Thursday); April 18 (Good Friday); May 1 (Labor Day); June 12 (Independence Day); August 25 (National Heroes Day); November 30 (Bonifacio Day); December 25 (Christmas Day); December 30 (Rizal Day); and the dates commemorating Eidul Fitr, and Eidul Adha.
