The Department of National Defense (DND) hosted the 6th Cybersecurity Awareness Conference (CYBERCON 2024) at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club (AFPCOC) in Camp Aguinaldo.
With the theme “Cyber-Ready: Building a Resilient Defense Workforce,” the event focused on advancing cybersecurity awareness and resilience. It brought together experts, military leaders, and information technology (IT) professionals to address the growing challenges and opportunities in cybersecurity.
In his keynote remarks, Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning Ignacio B. Madriaga emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s cyberspace.
“A single breach in cyberspace is not just a loss of data—it is a direct threat to our national security, capable of undermining not just military operations but also our country’s civilian critical infrastructure,” Madriaga said.
Key discussions covered phishing detection, safe internet practices, and the role of third-party vendors in defense ecosystems. Sessions also emphasized password protection, cyber resilience, and the impact of artificial intelligence on cybersecurity.
