Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez marked Bonifacio Day with a call for integrity, unity, and accountability among Filipinos.

The leader of the 307-strong House of Representatives honored Bonifacio’s unwavering commitment to freedom, justice, and the welfare of the Filipino people.

“Bonifacio stood against tyranny and division, championing the ideals of freedom, justice, and the welfare of the Filipino people above all else,” Romualdez said.

The House chief also reflected on the enduring relevance of Bonifacio’s principles today.

“In these challenging times, when the principles of democracy and good governance are put to the test, let us draw inspiration from Bonifacio’s bravery and steadfast commitment to the truth,” Romualdez said.

The Speaker urged Filipinos to face challenges with a collective belief in the nation’s potential to move forward and progress.

“The path toward progress is never without challenges, but like Bonifacio, we must face them with unwavering resolve and a firm belief in the collective power of the Filipino people,” Romualdez said.

He then called on Filipinos to reject fear and discord, embracing the spirit of “Bayanihan” in building a nation rooted in peace, justice, and prosperity.

“As we commemorate Bonifacio’s legacy, may his patriotism inspire us to remain vigilant, principled, and united as we navigate these turbulent times… Together, let us honor his memory by safeguarding the democracy and freedom he fought so valiantly to achieve,” Romualdez concluded.
