Ilocos Norte first district Rep. Ferdinand Alexander ‘Sandro’ Marcos assured his constituents in Adams and other typhoon-affected areas that recovery and rehabilitation efforts would continue as super typhoon “Pepito” battered the province.

Highlighting the challenges posed by landslides and disruptions to daily life, Marcos stressed his office’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of all affected constituents.

“Following the recent typhoon, the Municipality of Adams has faced significant challenges due to landslides and disruptions to daily life. Immediate actions are being taken to address these concerns, ensuring the safety and welfare of all our kakailians (countrymen),” his statement read.

His office, in coordination with the Ilocos Norte provincial government, promptly mobilized resources to support recovery efforts.

“Private contractors are working tirelessly to clear landslides, with the Department of Public Works and Highways providing fuel to efficiently operate heavy equipment and machinery,” Marcos said.

“Food packs and essential supplies have been distributed to affected families, while housing materials are provided to assist in rebuilding efforts,” he added.

The Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD program has been activated to provide cash-for-work opportunities for affected residents, helping them recover financially while contributing to community rehabilitation.

“We remain deeply concerned about the ongoing challenges faced by the residents of Adams. While significant progress has been made, we recognize that recovery is a long-term process,” Marcos said.
