Vice President Sara Duterte called for a press conference Monday amid the ongoing legislative inquiry of the House Committee on Public Accountability Good Government into her alleged misuse of confidential funds.
Duterte took the opportunity to defend herself against continuing criticisms by lawmakers over her decision to stop attending House hearings. She described the series of congressional probes as an act of “fault finding.”
She also refuted claims that she was preventing some key officials of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) from attending the House Blue Ribbon panel discussions by authorizing their field activities during the scheduled hearings.
The Vice President likewise denied reports that she was the subject of the so-called ‘Save the Queen’ operation that floated in the recent House Quad Committee hearing. She also said she has yet to appoint a new spokesperson after lawyer Michael Poa stepped down from his OVP post.
