President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed gratitude on Wednesday to ASEAN member countries for assisting the Philippines following recent storms.
“I want to once again thank our ASEAN colleagues who sent assistance,” Mr. Marcos said during an aid distribution event at the Fuerte CamSur Sports Complex in Pili, Camarines Sur.
“Like other places, they were also hit by the storms but still provided us with help,” he added.
Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam each provided vital resources. Singapore sent a C-130 aircraft for search and retrieval operations, while Indonesia offered an H225M Caracal and an MI-17-V5 helicopter.
Malaysia contributed a Eurocopter EC-725, and Brunei dispatched a C-295 aircraft along with two S-70i helicopters.
In addition to aircraft support, each nation also conducted several humanitarian missions. Singapore executed eight sorties to transport essential supplies, with Malaysia carrying out nine, Brunei completing 10, and Indonesia providing 13.
President Marcos also commended private sector organizations for their role in extending resources to further government projects, highlighting a spirit of solidarity in the face of regional challenges.
