WestMinCom chief announces retirement

Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) Commander, Lt. Gen. William N. Gonzales, is set to retire on November 23.

Before his retirement, the outgoing commander made a heartfelt farewell visit to the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division.

During his address to the troops, Lt. Gen. Gonzales expressed deep gratitude for the commitment and sacrifices demonstrated by the men and women of the 11th Infantry Division.

“I am very happy to have worked with the finest Joint Task Force here in Sulu,” he stated.

“To the brave men and women of the 11th Infantry Division, your dedication to duty and unwavering commitment to serve have truly inspired me. You have not only safeguarded this land but have also given hope to the people of Sulu. As I leave, I am confident that you will all continue our mission with the same determination and diligence,” he shared in his farewell message. 

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Peña expressed profound gratitude to Lt. Gen. Gonzales, highlighting the positive impact of his leadership and mentorship on JTF Orion.

“On behalf of the Alakdan troopers, we sincerely extend our deepest thanks for guiding and inspiring us,” Maj. Gen. Peña stated.
