US commits to support Philippine cyber defense capabilities

The US Cyber National Mission Force has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Department of National Defense (DND) in developing cyber capabilities.

This commitment was established during a meeting between DND Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning Ignacio B. Madriaga and US Cyber National Mission Force (CNMF) Commander Major General Lorna Mahlock, where they discussed the significant challenges both countries face in cyberspace.

Additionally, they explored potential avenues to support the Philippine defense department’s efforts in building its cyber capabilities.

The CNMF is a specialized cyber unit under U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM), tasked with planning, directing, and synchronizing cyberspace operations to protect against and counter threats to national security.

According to the DND, the CNMF has played a critical role in defending the United States from cyber adversaries since its inception.

MGen Mahlock expressed the U.S. commitment to strengthening its partnership with allied cyber forces, specifically through collaboration between USCYBERCOM/CNMF and the Armed Forces of the Philippines Cyber Command (AFPCYC).
