PAGASA: 3 weather systems to bring rains this weekend

Three weather systems—an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a low pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies—will continue to trigger scattered rains over the weekend in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

The ITCZ will bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao this Saturday while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.

By Sunday until Monday, the LPA embedded within the ITCZ outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) is forecast to enter the PAR region.

The trough of the LPA may bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over

Quezon, MIMAROPA, Bicol regi9n, the Visayas and Mindanao.

The easterlies will continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening over the National Capital Region and the rest of the country.

The development of the LPA into a tropical depression is not ruled out, the weather bureau said.

A cloud cluster over the Pacific Ocean developed into an LPA before dawn on Friday.  It was first spotted 2,040 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas at 3 a.m.
