Pasig City became a beacon of innovation as Filipino and South Korean leaders joined forces on Saturday to unveil an e-Mobility Proof of Concepts event, showcasing electric jeepneys poised to revolutionize public transportation in the Philippines.
The event brought together Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson, LCSC Group chairman and senatorial candidate, and Rep. Richelle Louise Singson, alongside South Korea’s e-mobility trailblazers: Young-Jin Joo, CEO of E-Mon Co. Korea; Jong Gwan Rah, Director of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH); Ahn Jae-Bum, Director of E-Mon Korea; and LCSC E-Mon Operations Manager Jinhee Kim.
In his opening remarks, Manong Chavit championed the modernization of the country’s transportation system through electric vehicles, saying, “This marks the beginning of a sustainable and innovative future for the Philippines. By adopting electric jeepneys, we aim to create a positive environmental impact and enhance the daily lives of Filipinos.”
Rep. Singson echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration. “This initiative is a testament to how cooperation can address urban mobility challenges. Your work sets a benchmark for innovation and sustainability,” she remarked.
Jong Gwan Rah delved into the technical aspects, sharing insights into Micro-EVs, proof-of-concept processes, and their role in fostering fair and sustainable mobility.
“Our goal is to promote fairness and innovation in the future of transportation, ensuring these advancements benefit all sectors of society,” Rah emphasized.
The event featured a showcase of the electric jeepneys, with their sleek modern design and eco-friendly features. These vehicles represent a significant step in addressing urban mobility challenges while reducing carbon emissions, part of a broader initiative to integrate sustainable public transportation nationwide.
“Let us continue working together for a sustainable and collective future,” Manong Chavit concluded, underscoring the collaborative effort required to realize the vision of eco-friendly urban mobility.
