An island holiday follows a different rhythm. It moves at the pace of the tide, shaped by familiar faces, shared traditions, and the quiet stories of people who have built their lives by the sea.
At Discovery Coron, the season arrives with lights, carols, and moments that honor the community that considers the island home.
The island resort opened the holiday season on Nov. 21 with its annual Christmas tree lighting. Themed “Together at Christmas,” it gathered guests, families, and members of the local community under warm lights. The focus stayed on connection, a theme carried through the night’s most personal story.
That story came from “Cheers for Chairs,” the resort’s corporate social responsibility program that donates classroom chairs to public elementary schools in nearby barangays. The spotlight fell on Clide, a seven-year-old beneficiary whose simple wish was a more comfortable place to study. His journey was introduced through a short video, and then he was brought into the room when he appeared as the evening’s special guest.
Content creator Marj Sia joined Discovery Coron general manager Joegil Magtanggol for the tree lighting. Guests were invited to count down together, their voices rising in a collective “Merry Christmas” before the tree lit up in warm hues. A performance by the Coron choir closed the program with familiar carols that filled the open-air space.
The tone of the evening extends into the resort’s holiday offerings throughout December. Signature Hot Choco is served at Firefish Restaurant from Dec. 16 to 31, while afternoons at Sinag Restaurant feature Pinoy festive treats, including bibingka, puto bumbong, local sorbetes, and classic pasalubong such as ensaymada, pastillas, and yema pandesal.
Holiday cocktails, including a Pineapple Margarita and an Amaretto Citrus Mix, are available at Dugong Bar and Firefish Lounge, alongside discounted dining vouchers for guests planning meals ahead.
Christmas Eve brings a beachfront Noche Buena featuring Filipino dishes and desserts, followed by a Christmas Day buffet with a global spread that includes oven-baked beef brisket, crispy pork roll, and seasonal sweets.
Glow Spa runs Holiday Pampering offers throughout the month, with discounts for pre-booked treatments and select walk-in services.
The season closes on Dec. 31 with One Epic Night, a beachfront New Year’s Eve celebration that pairs a dinner buffet with live music from Center Stage Band, DJ Cheska, and DJ Carlo, alongside dance and light performances.
