In the sweltering heat and humidity of the Philippines, finding the perfect outfit to keep you cool without sacrificing style can be a challenge. But having lived through the endless summers here, I’ve found a fabric that checks all the boxes: linen.

Linen, made from the flax plant, is light, airy, and breathable. Its ability to let air flow freely helps keep the body cool, even in the hottest conditions. Whether walking through the bustling streets of Manila or relaxing in the provinces, the fabric efficiently wicks away sweat to keep you comfortable throughout the day.

Over time, linen softens and develops a relaxed, stylish texture. Its natural wrinkles add to its laid-back charm, making it ideal for casual outings, beach trips, and even office wear.

In collaboration with Vogue Philippines, guests explored linen’s versatility and its endless styling possibilities

Uniqlo’s 2025 Spring/Summer Linen collection showcases the versatility of linen with its superior Uniqlo Premium Linen line. This collection, which also includes Uniqlo Linen Blend and Uniqlo Cotton Linen, emphasizes the breathability and elegance of the fabric.

The Premium Linen, made from European Flax grown in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, offers a smooth finish and quick-drying properties. It provides a crisp touch while retaining comfort, making it perfect for layering or wearing on its own for any occasion.

To celebrate the material’s craftsmanship and versatility, Uniqlo partnered with Vogue Philippines for a special event. Actress and Uniqlo ambassador Jasmine Curtis-Smith, along with Vogue Philippines fashion director Pam Quiñones and Uniqlo’s Head of PR and Sustainability, Reichelle Vergara, discussed the linen collection’s appeal.

Curtis-Smith shared her love for linen’s versatility, which suits both relaxed days and formal events.

“As an actress, I really have to be versatile. On my off days, I prefer relaxed, comfortable pieces. But for events, I love the fact that I can go all out for a premiere or be subtle and minimalist depending on the occasion,” she said.

Quiñones emphasized linen’s ability to balance relaxed silhouettes with structure, making it an essential fabric for those who want effortless style. “Effortless style is about being intentional without looking overdone,” she noted.

The collection also includes Uniqlo Linen Blend, made from linen and rayon, which offers a smoother drape and reduced wrinkling, ideal for a more polished look. Uniqlo Cotton Linen, a blend of linen and cotton, provides a comfortable yet refined aesthetic, perfect for both casual and more structured outfits.

In addition to its style and functionality, linen is a sustainable choice. Vergara noted that Uniqlo’s Premium Linen shirts are made from flax certified by the independent European Flax™ certification body, ensuring responsible sourcing and environmental sustainability.

“An important part of the Uniqlo LifeWear philosophy is the production of responsibly sourced, environmentally friendly pieces,” Vergara explained.

Curtis-Smith, who values conscious fashion, praised linen for its longevity and versatility, making it an essential in her travels and daily wardrobe.
