Group lauds Belmonte on small business plan

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Quezon City (PPCI-QC) on Sunday lauded Mayor Joy Belmonte in her effort to help variety (sari-sari) store owners and other nano entrepreneurs become legitimate business owners.

PCCI-QC president Arnel Mateo also said that the city has become the country’s innovation and startup capital through the StartUP QC program, the first and the largest of its kind in the country, and Pangkabuhayan QC.

The program showcased the proudly original products in Quezon City, and assisted 600 entrepreneurs and cooperatives that collectively earned P18.6 million this year, he said.

Even variety store owners and other nano-entrepreneurs with below P50,000 capital and annual gross income of P250,000 or less have been documented and registered with the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Department.

PCCI-QC chairman emeritus Carl Balita said behind the success of the city is Mayor Joy Belmonte, a world-class leader.

The city was adjudged the Most Business Friendly City of the Philippines in 2023 and 2024, along with the elevation of the PCCI-QC to the Hall of Fame as the Most Outstanding Local Chamber of the country, he said.
