The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Monday a magnitude-4.8 earthquake located about 73 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental shaking other areas in the province.
The tremor was initially measured at magnitude-5.1, but the state seismic agency later downgraded it. Based on the Phivolcs’ mapping, the quake was observed between the Philippine trench and the Cotabato trench.
Instrumental intensities were recorded in General Santos City; Matanao, Davao del Sur; Alabel and Malungon, Sarangani at level 2. Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Kiamba, Sarangani; and Nabunturan, Davao de Oro were listed at level 1.
